Fluoroscopy is the use of real-time X-rays. This allows the Radiologists to visualise certain parts of your body as they function and move, for example we can watch you drink some Barium liquid and assess your oesophagus and stomach as the Barium moves through your system.
Our Digital Fluoroscopy machine is particularly useful in the evaluation of the gastrointestinal tract, the urinary tract and the female reproductive system.
We also use our Fluoroscopic unit to aid us with steroid joint injections and arthrograms. The Radiologist will ask you to lie on the X-Ray table and will then move the Fluoroscopic machine over the joint to be injected and take a picture. This allows the Radiologists to get an accurate view of the joint and then place the steroid directly to the area.
You will need to make an appointment for this examination. Most fluoroscopy procedures will require some preparation such as fasting or bowel preparation.
